Clothing Shipping from Bali
Prices and rules checked
Clothes are light and bulky, and couriers charge for the space rather than the weight. We vacuum pack so you stop paying for air, and classify the garments correctly so the parcel clears customs the first time.
Clothing is among the cheapest things to buy in Bali and one of the most expensive to send badly, whether it's going overseas or across Indonesia. A suitcase of resort wear weighs almost nothing and fills half a box, and every courier charges on whichever is greater: what the parcel weighs, or the space it occupies. Pack it loose and you're paying for air.
We vacuum pack. Compressing garments before they go in the box brings the volumetric weight down towards the real weight, and on a light, bulky shipment that's the difference between a quote you accept and one you walk away from. It's not a trick, it's simply what a counter with the equipment can do that a drop-off point can't.
The other half of the job is the paperwork. Garments are classified under HS chapters 61 and 62 depending on whether they are knitted or woven and what they are made of, and getting it wrong isn't a small error: customs can re-assess the shipment and add penalties on top of the duty. We fill it in with you rather than guessing on your behalf.
Who this is for
- Travellers sending clothes home rather than paying excess baggage
- Bali fashion labels shipping to customers and stockists overseas
- Makers sending samples to buyers before a production run
- Anyone who has bought more than their suitcase will take
- Brands who want their own packaging used rather than ours
Not a fit: Used clothing is banned or quota-restricted in a number of countries, so second-hand shipments need checking destination by destination before you pack. We also can't ship counterfeit goods.
What's included
Vacuum packing
Compressed before boxing, so you stop paying for the air between the garments.
HS classification done properly
Chapter 61 or 62, knitted or woven, by fibre. Declaring synthetic as cotton invites a re-assessment.
Personal and commercial
One box home, or a repeat run to a stockist. Both are ordinary here.
Your own packaging
Brand mailers and inserts used at no extra charge if you supply them.
Which service should you use?
These are the services we're sending on right now. We'll tell you which one we'd pick for your parcel, and why, before you commit to anything.
| Service | Runs on | Transit | Tracking | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DHL Express | DHL | 4 to 5 business days | Full, door to door | Anything urgent, valuable, or going to a customer who is waiting |
| FedEx | FedEx | 4 to 5 business days | Full, door to door | Much the same as DHL. We pick whichever is better for your route and weight |
| Pos Ekspor | Pos Indonesia, carried by DHL | 5 to 7 business days | Yes | A couple of days slower than DHL direct, and a little cheaper |
| Pos Registered / ePacket | Pos Indonesia | 14 to 30 days, sometimes longer | Limited | Small, light, low value things where cost matters more than speed |
Transit times run from the day your parcel is dispatched, not the day you drop it off, and customs can add a day or two at the far end. Freight is quoted per shipment, since it depends on weight, destination and the carrier's surcharge on the day.

Frequently asked questions
- Why is my clothing shipment quoted so high for such a light box?
- Because couriers charge on volumetric weight whenever it exceeds the actual weight, and clothing is the textbook case: light, and bulky. A box of garments can be quoted at several times what the scale says. Vacuum packing is the direct fix, which is why we do it before quoting rather than after.
- Does vacuum packing damage clothes?
- Not for ordinary garments. Cotton, linen, jersey and denim compress and recover fine. Structured tailoring, leather, and anything heavily embellished we pack normally instead, because the saving isn't worth the creasing.
- Can you ship for my Bali clothing brand?
- Yes, and a good deal of what leaves this counter is exactly that. We can work shipment by shipment, or hold your stock and ship orders as they come in, which is our fulfillment service rather than this one.
- What documents do I need to send clothing overseas?
- A commercial invoice and packing list for anything commercial, plus a correct HS code per garment type. Some destinations want a certificate of origin to apply a lower duty rate, and we can arrange that. Personal shipments are simpler, but the declaration still has to match what is in the box.
- Can I send second-hand clothes?
- It depends entirely on the destination. Several countries restrict or ban used clothing imports on hygiene grounds. Tell us where it's going before you pack and we'll check, rather than let you find out at the other end.
