Boxes, tape, bubble wrap and filler, sold at our Kerobokan counter. The standard box is IDR 25,000 and measures 57 x 47 x 34 cm. You do not have to be shipping with us to buy one, and if you are, we will tell you which size actually suits what you are sending.
Finding a decent box in Bali is harder than it sounds. Supermarket boxes have been used once already and give way at the corners, and the ones the hardware shop sells are made for stacking indoors rather than for being thrown into an aircraft hold. Most of the damage we see arriving at the counter started as a box that was never going to make the trip.
So we keep proper ones, and we sell them to anyone, whether or not the parcel is going out through us. Same for tape that holds at altitude, bubble wrap by the metre, and filler for the gaps that let things move.
The part worth reading before you buy is below: the box you choose decides what the shipping costs, and bigger is not safer. A half empty box is more expensive and more fragile than the right one.

Not a fit: We are not a wholesale packaging supplier, so we cannot quote pallet quantities or print custom branded boxes. For your own printed boxes and mailers, have them made and send them to us, and we will pack into those instead.

What it costs
Boxes have a price on them. Everything else is measured: bubble wrap, tape and filler are charged by how much your item actually takes, which is not something we can put in a table without guessing high. You watch it being used and you pay for that. If we are packing the shipment for you, the materials are part of the quote rather than charged separately.

A note on the big box, because it catches people out. At 57 x 47 x 34 cm it carries about 18 kg of volumetric weight, and couriers charge on volumetric or actual weight, whichever is higher. Fill it with 8 kg of goods and you still pay for 18. Two smaller boxes are often cheaper than one large one half full.
These are materials only. Shipping, insurance and duty are quoted separately, and if we are packing your shipment the materials are already inside that quote rather than added to it. Only the boxes carry a fixed price: wrap, tape and filler are charged by what your item actually uses, totalled in front of you before you pay. Stock moves, so for anything beyond a box or two, message us before you come.

- How much is a box?
- The standard shipping box is IDR 25,000. It measures 57 x 47 x 34 cm, it is double walled, and it is the one most shipments leave this counter in. Other sizes are priced at the counter, because what we hold changes.
- Can I buy a box without shipping with you?
- Yes. Plenty of people do, including ones posting through somebody else. Come in during opening hours and take it away.
- Is a bigger box safer for my things?
- Usually the opposite. Couriers charge on volumetric weight or actual weight, whichever is higher, so a box with air in it costs more, and the air is also what lets the contents move and break. The right box is the smallest one your goods fit into with enough padding around them.
- What is volumetric weight?
- Length times width times height in centimetres, divided by 5,000. Our standard box works out at about 18 kg empty by that formula, so anything lighter than 18 kg inside it is still charged as 18. It is the single biggest avoidable cost in a shipment, and it is why we ask what you are sending before selling you a box.
- Do you sell bubble wrap and tape separately?
- Yes, over the counter, and charged by how much you actually use rather than by the roll. That is why there is no fixed price on this page for them: a vase and a laptop take very different amounts, and a single number would mean overcharging one of you. We wrap it, measure what went on, and total it in front of you.
- Can you just pack it for me?
- Yes, and it is what we would suggest for anything fragile. Bring it as it is. Packing materials are inside the quote, so you are not charged for them twice, and there is a guide to how we pack if you would rather do it yourself.
- Do you have boxes big enough for a surfboard or a bicycle?
- Those need something built rather than bought, and we do that. Message us with the dimensions before you come, because it is made to the item rather than pulled off a shelf.
- Can I use my own branded boxes?
- Of course, and for brands we fulfil for that is the normal arrangement. Send your boxes, mailers and inserts here and we pack into those at no extra charge.
